League By-Laws

Drafting

  • Order of the draft will be selected by random draw in advance of the event.
  • The draft will proceed from first to last for the Eastern Conference and then switch to the Western Conference, which will also draft first to last. Draft will switch back to the Eastern Conference to select from last to first, followed by the Western Conference drafting last to first.
    • This process will be repeated until each team has drafted seven players.
  • Goalies for an NHL team (Goaltending Team) are treated as one pick.
  • There will be a 30-second time limit for each player selection. If the time limit is exceeded, the Commissioner at his discretion can levy a fine, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics. The Commissioner’s decision on the time violations will be final!
  • After selection of a player, please enter your pick on the summary sheet to be returned at the conclusion of the draft.
  • Players that have not been drafted after the completion of seven rounds will be eligible for swaps (see below).

There will be a reception, which will give your team a chance to prepare and give your competitors bad advice. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.

Trading

A team may negotiate a trade for a player or a group of players with another team.

  • The Commissioner or his designated representative must approve all trades before they become official and the master list is updated.
  • Trading cannot result in a team having more than eight (8) or less than six (6) players.
  • Trades can only be completed with teams drafting in the same Conference as your team drafted.
  • A trade can be one-for-one, two-for-two, or two-for-one
  • A trade is not completed until a Player Trade Form is filled out and properly signed and authorized.
  • Once the draft has been completed, a team may swap one-for-one for any players left in the pool from the same Conference your team drafted.
  • The Commissioner must give approval to all trades and swaps.

The deadline for all trades is approximately 30 minutes after the draft is completed.

Steal Your Pick Mulligan – Each team will receive One (1) ‘Mulligan’ prior to the beginning of the draft.

How it Works

During the Live Draft

  • Available to use starting with the beginning of the fourth round or any round thereafter (CANNOT be used in rounds 1, 2 or 3).
  • If the team drafting immediately preceding your team selects a player you want, then on your turn to pick you can use your “Steal the Pick” Mulligan and you would then receive that player as your selection in that round.
  • The team you stole the pick from would then be up again and have to reselect/draft a different player.
  • Each team can ONLY use your “Steal the Pick” Mulligan ticket once during the draft.
  • Please Note: If you steal a pick, then the next team immediately following you… can steal the pick you just stole! They CANNOT use it to steal the player that the team who just lost a player re-selected however.

Roster Size

  • Roster size cannot exceed eight (8) players or go below six (6) players.

Scoring

Each team will earn points based on the performance of their players. Points are calculated as follows:

  • Goal or Assist (Regular Time) 1 point
  • *NEW* Hit 0.1 point
  • *NEW* Blocked Shot 0.1 point
  • *NEW* Shots on Goal 0.1 point
  • *INCREASED* Winning Goaltending Team 2 point
  • Bonus Points:
    • Overtime Goal or Overtime Assist 2 additional points
    • Shutout (Goaltending Team Points) 3 additional points
    • *NEW* Hat Trick 3 additional points

Example Skaters:

If Auston Matthews has a playoff stat line of:

14 Goals (G), 6 Assists (A), 2 Overtime Goals (OTG), 1 Overtime Assist (OTA), 1 Hat Trick (HT), 49 Shots (S), 11 Hits (H), 2 Blocked Shots (BS)

Matthews’ playoff fantasy point total would be:

14 (G) + 6 (A) + 4 (OTG) + 2 (OTA) + 3 (HT) + 4.9 (S) + 1.1 (H) + 0.2 (BS) = 35.2 fantasy points

Example Goaltenders: (goaltenders receive fantasy points for goals and assists, including overtime bonus points)

If Toronto’s Goaltenders (Samsonov, Woll, Jones etc.) have a combined playoff stat line of:

10 Wins (W), 2 Shutouts (SHO), 0 Goals (G), 1 Assist (A), 0 Overtime Goals (OTG), 1 Overtime Assist (OTA) Toronto’s Goaltenders playoff fantasy point total would be: 20 (W) + 6 (SHO) + 1 (A) + 2 (OTA) = 29 fantasy points

Tie Breaker

All ties will be broken in the following manner: Team awarded the higher position in the standings will be the one who has the player scoring the goal closest to the end of the playoffs. If two or more teams are still tied, the process will be repeated with the next player on their roster who has scored the goal closest to the end of the playoffs. This process will be continued until all ties are broken.
